Nine-year-old Mike Moise desperately needed heart surgery. He came in October 1999 and stayed for six
months. He was very homesick so he carried a picture of his family around with him and cried for about two months. He had an Atrial-Septal defect, a hypoplastic right ventricle and pulmonary stenosis.
He was operated on early in the morning, was re-opened in PICU a few hours later because he was bleeding internally. He had a severe reaction to some medication the next day and almost died. None of us quite know
how to act in the face of a miracle. He returned to Haiti on Good Friday in March of 2000, and is in good health. We have received a letter from him and we have also talked to him on the phone and he is very happy
and content with his family and life in Haiti. |
