Marie Claude Toussiant was a 26 year old who also came in May of 2001 and stayed with the Kaebs.  Marie needed a valve replacement and a valve repair due to damage from rheumatic fever at the age of 14.  One day after surgery, Marie suffered a stroke, which affected her left side motor skills.  After extensive therapy and daily home exercises she regained strength in her left arm and leg.  Marie Claude returned to her home in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on September 25^th and is back at home caring for her one year old daughter Claudia.  The Kaebs have kept in touch with her by phone and she is doing well.
