Berthalin Jacques came to my house in 1999, a year later.  He was beautiful.  He was 15 months old and starting to walk.  He had a heart condition (PDA) that needed fixed.  He was in the hospital for 2-3 days and then came home.  He stayed for about 3 months total and went back to Haiti.  Each of these children I loved dearly.  I felt many times, my life was much more simple when I had a child.  There was a lot of responsibility and pain at the end of the stay, but the satisfaction of helping a child receive the chance to become stronger was greater.  I have been able to keep in contact with Berthalin, to meet his parents and see his home.  He lives in a decent place for Haiti.  His parents have the means to support him and send him to school.  God has used each of these children to mold me and make me a different and better person.
